Stop saying Hello!

The other day a friend of mine answered her iPhone with a "hello?" No one does that anymore, especially the hello with the tone "who could this be?" She knew who it was. Everyone has caller ID now. I guess our generation that lived before caller ID is still having problems with just saying,"Tom, how are you?" or "Lisa, what's up?" We still feel that it is proper etiquette to open with Helllooo? Say good-bye to hello people.

Permanent Ink

We were recently in a 48hour film festival. They give you a genre, prop, line of dialogue, and a character that have to be in the film. We drew THRILLER! Since is was Halloween we used a lot of blood! Through a friend of a friend we scored a tattoo parlor to shoot in. Thanks the Painted Lady.

21st Century Acronyms v.1.0

Hello, friends. Here is a cheetsheet legend I made for you "older" people to help you stay young and hip when chatting with the younger crowd. Please refer to it whenever talking to someone under 30.

Chihuly at the de Young Museum.

I went to the de Young Museum yesterday with my friend Donna. A man named Chihuly was the featured artist. He works with glass. Here are some pictures I took. It was like being in the church of Color!

Study in Laughter

Here is a study in laughter without sound. I was interested in SEEING laughter instead of HEARING it. This is some deep poo poo. Damn it! I should have used bigger words to convince you. How about, the Hippopotamus was laughing in the gymnasium while eating mayonnaise.

And the Winner is...

We won an award! We got a trophy and everything. Just like the Oscars, although ours had stars on it, and Ok it was made out of plastic, but we won for the category BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS! Thanks Al. That's right Special Effects. We're pretending that our film is now up there with The Matrix or Titanic... Special Effect wise, anyway. I mean we did get a trophy for it. We are also pretending that Julia Roberts was there. That's right, I got her number.

Award Show

Beware tooting of ones on horn to follow. Who cares we worked really hard on this one. We were nominated for an award for our latest film 187. The awards show is tonight at FAT CITY. It's nice to get a little recognition from people other than your friends. Just being nominated is cool enough, but we want some hardware!

Thurs Night at the Movies

The great thing about the 48hour Film Festival is that they show the finished films at a REAL theater...popcorn and all! Look at the people lined up to see our film. Ok, maybe they were there to see their own film, but I'm choosing to believe they were there for ours. A live audience really lets you know if your film is good or not. Ours was well received. It's the greatest high when a group of people laugh at your jokes. Thanks 48.

Friends at Opening Night

Check out our sexy friends that we paid to go with us. Kidding, they did look great, though. I forgot to have someone take my picture! I mean it IS my blog damn it! Is it too much to ask for one of you to take my picture! My new Aldo shoes were looking sexy, with my jeans and sport coat. I even had a top button undone to let a hint of chest hair out!

Green Screen Shots From 48hour Film Festival

Here are some shots from our make shift green screen room.

48hour Film Festival

We did another 48hour Film Festival this weekend. It was insane! Friday night at 7:30 we met 34 other teams at a bar. You draw out of a hat to find out what genre you have to make your film in. We drew Detective/Cop this year. They then give you a prop, character, and line of dialogue that has to be in all films. (PROP: bus ticket, CHARACTERr: Gloria Lorenz, Trade Expert, LINE: Forget it, I already have.) Sunday night by 7:30 you have to turn in a completed film. We got there at 7:25, I swear! It is showing at the Roxie in the Mission this Thursday at 7:00 if you want to see. Yeah right, like you're gonna show.

We wrote the script Friday night till way past my bedtime. We started shooting Saturday morning at 7am. Our first location was on Taylor St. The spot where Steve McQueen did the famous car jumping scene in a Ford Fastback. We tried to recreate it with remote control cars..... it was a nightmare! We got the shot, but everything that could go wrong went wrong. We where about to say action when a garbage truck pulls up right into our shot. We waited 10 minutes for them to leave! I don't know if you've ever seen a garbage man collecting garbage on the hills of Taylor St., but it is not a pretty sight. When the guy returned from the bottom of the hill with the garbage can, he was so out of breathe I thought he was going to die. Suddenly I thought, I'm right in the middle of a 48 hour film festival and I might have to give the garbage man CPR.

We also shot in an alley. There are lots of pigeons in a San Francisco alley... one of them shit on our camera. If I ever see him again...

Special thanks to Donna Solanga, you are amazing! Pauby Widjaja, you drive better than Steve McQeen! Nicolas and Gil... you guys were so funny! You bastards, stole the film! And Al, who did all the green screen effects in one Good night.

I bought the iPhone.

That's right... I bought it! I see you looking down on me with your Samsung.... with your little flip open phone! Your little I ain't got no stinking GPS phone. Looking down on me for joining the MASSES. For standing in line three hours to buy it! That's right, I did it! I was part of the group! That's right! I bought the iPhone.

Her name is iRene and we are in love.

Here is a link someone sent me. They saw this on YouTube. That's right! I watch YouTube! You can see me standing in line with my arms crossed looking really mad.... oops! I had to do it, just to say I did it. That's right... I did it! I bought the iPhone.

More Nenad Went home Pictures

Here are some more photos of Nenad's going away dinner. Check out the last one. When I picked him up to take him to the airport the next day he had his hair cut. Nenad had a pony-tail for eight years. His daughter probably won't recognize him when he gets off the plane.

Nenad Went Home

I dropped Nenad off at the airport today. I was said to see him leave. I now have a brother in Serbia. We took him for Sushi last night for a going away party. My dinner never showed up. When we asked our waitress about it she said,"Oh.... we don't serve tofu at night," and then she walked away.

Good luck to you Nenade.
